One thing to keep in mind is that he doesn't always play these songs with the
capo at the same fret. Sometimes he'll move it up or down, depending. What's
written here is what's been recorded, or in the case of unreleased songs where
he most commonly puts the capo.
Also, whenever he plays a C or Am chord, he generally plays it as Cmaj7 or Am7.
I've included this in the chords as much as possible, but thought I should note
it here just in case.
If a song is in DADDAD, I didn't bother to write out the 3 high strings - most
of the time they're treated like drones.
Finally, there is one part of Mike Doughty's playing style that cannot be
ignored. Very often when playing in DADDAD or dropped D tuning and going to a D
chord, he'll roll off of the strings with his left hand - that is, essentially
strumming the strings with the fingers on his left hand as they come off of the
frets. This is easier heard than explained, and you can really hear it on "Maybe
I'll Come Down" off of Smofe + Smang (at the end of the chord progression), and
also "Circles" from the same album (listen to the end of the progression at the
end of the first line).
